Suzanne

A quick (well, quick for me, about 8 hrs) picture I have to do for my future artbook.
I don't have a specific model for this one, I did a "mix" beetween 3 lovely ladies :
- Scarlett River :  http://www.modelmayhem.com/1414056
- Dayna Delux :  http://www.daynadelux.com/
I think I will try to do a more cartoon version of Suzanne soon ...
Print soon available here :  http://www.inprnt.com/gallery/serge_birault/
Done with PS

  1. beautiful as ever, but I don't see it appear in you artbook?(I'm the lucky fellow who happens to be working in the printing factory were your book is being made; just received the data from your publisher-already had to clean my keyboard from me drooling al over it...)

  2. Serge, In first place Congratulations for the picture.

When you draw, How do you get the fit and correct pose for your illustration?. You say that you use various references. How do you choose the parts that compose the complete character?. The differents references have differents lightings. How do you solve this?.

    Thank in advance.

    1. This time, it was juste for the face ... I used several models and I tried to do a "mix" of their faces :)

  3. And in others illustrations that you have done before, How do you choose the parts that compose the complete character?.Do you work like the Dr. Frankenstein?. The differents references have differents lightings. How do you solve this?.

    Thank you again.

    1. I usually only use reference for the face. As I do "cartoon" characters, my proportions are often ... strange, so I don't need reference ^^'.
For the lighting, I nearly always use the same ... One on the front and one on the background, like a 3D scene. So , once again, I don't really need reference.
But I'm not a good example. think the best way is to find a reference which is close to your picture :)

  4. The last question, i swear...;P Do you draw your sketches directly in the pc or on a sheet of paper and then you scan it?.
    Merci et salut du Espagne.
